We are committed to eclectic multi-genre music programming: from touring, Grammy-winning stars to breakthrough artists on the way up; from revered legends who reinvent & remain relevant to emerging, grassroots artists.  Solo, duos, bands, big bands, DJs, and tastemakers – acapella, acoustic, electric, digital, and kaleidoscopic. We have high-standards but broad tastes from trip-hop to latin jazz; reggae dub to underground disco; street funk to soulful rock; RnB to spoken word and more. Established as a music destination in 2011 as ‘Hoochie Coochie’, we have long been a favourite venue of music fans who make a pilgrimage to visit us from across the UK, Europe and beyond. We have hosted many Grammy-winning stars and touring acts on our stage including Paul Weller, Sting, Chaka Khan, Gregory Porter, Macy Gray, Candi Staton, Angie Stone, Arrested Development, Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Incognito, Brian Jackson, Don Letts and more – as well as superstar DJs like Judge Jules, Dimitri From Paris, The Reflex, Craig Charles, John Morales, DJ Yoda, and Norman Jay. We’re also passionate about supporting emerging artists and new music – often working with partner venues and organisations. We were an official MOBO 2025 Awards and Mercury Prize 2025 venue and welcomed touring acts and festival favourites including Corto.Alto, Smoove & Turrell, High Fade, Knats, Swannek, The Allergies, Casino and more.

For touring artists, we’re a 250-capacity venue with a world-class sound system, stage, and green room, dancefloor, and pro-level back line.  PILGRIM is the perfect venue for artists looking for that special connection with their audience, to unveil new material, deliver unforgettable stripped-back performances, host exclusive aftershow events and more.

We are located in the elegant Pilgrim Quarter in the centre of the City, close to transport links, the City’s iconic river and bridges, and the Newcastle Theatre Royal. Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a 1-hour flight – or less than 3-hours on a direct train – from London.
